Artist Statement

Parker grew up in rural Utah, where he spent his childhood catching anything his small hands could grab. From an early age, he developed a deep connection to wildlife and the outdoors, preferring time in open country over anywhere else. As a teenager, he began fishing and hunting alongside his father, grandfather, and uncles. Some of his fondest memories are of piling into a crowded truck before sunrise in search of elk and mule deer. Around that time, he discovered fly fishing — a pursuit that quickly became an obsession. Today, Parker spends much of his time in the backcountry, pursuing wild places, wild animals, and the quiet experiences that come with them.

Art has been a constant thread throughout his life. As a boy, Parker would sit and draw with his father, where he learned the fundamentals and first discovered his passion for creating. Throughout grade school, he enrolled in every art class available and later pursued private lessons that helped refine his technical skill. In college, he made the decision to pursue art professionally. Under close mentorship from his professors, he honed his craft and found his niche in watercolor painting and wildlife art.

Parker graduated from Maple Mountain High School in 2019 before serving a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He later attended Western Colorado University, where he competed as a collegiate wrestler and graduated in 2026 with a Bachelor’s degree in Wildlife Biology and Conservation, along with a Bachelor of Arts emphasizing watercolor painting.

His work is deeply informed by both his academic background in wildlife biology and his lived experience in the outdoors. Through watercolor, he seeks to capture not only the likeness of wildlife, but the feeling of wild places — the stillness, tension, and reverence found in nature.
